"So come follow the Gumbooted Chef from coast to hinterland on an epicurean adventure"

Peninsula fresh and on the door step

The Mornington Peninsula has a long association with growing quality produce, with a rich tradition of farming and fishing, producing fruits and vegetables in age old orchards, organic beef and creamy dairy from meandering pastures, and the freshest of seafood from crystal clear waters.   With fertile soil meeting the needs of market gardens and family owned farms alike. Add to this the skills of our local artisans producing gourmet products from the finest of local ingredients; cheese, honey, chocolate, olive oil, fresh breads and pastries and only 75 kilometres from the heart of the city!

Think globally eat locally

Localvores are people committed to eating foods grown within their local area; many focus on foods within 100-kilometres of home. There are economic, environmental, social and health benefits to eating foods grown close by.

Do you have questions about the food you eat? Eating locally provides some of the answers. Not to mention it simply tastes better when we know where our food has come from or we have grown it ourselves.

Why focus on local foods?

Knowing where our food comes from, and how it is grown or raised, allows us to choose sources which; treat their animals humanely, grow and produce responsible and sustainability to continue the traditions of our food culture. Do we want this heritage to survive and continue to be part of our landscape?
